Fiction writing: a skill that is undervalued in society for a vast number of reasons. Lets try to do that something, shall we? By learning about fiction writing through this writing, you should come out with a lot more ideas and info on how to approach fiction writing. This is the written version of the panel I have hosted online called Fiction Writing 101. My name is Swiftdrawer aka BlazeWarriorWolf. You can choose to call me one of those two(or even shorten Swiftdrawer to Swift because thats adorable). Let us embark on a journey through the limitless universe of the imagination together. So where do we start? Oh, I know. The audience for this writing is as broad as anyone who just wants to learn a bit about the process of fiction writing to anyone looking for some inspiration for their next story. Or even someone just starting out. Someone who is taking English class in high school or even sooner than that for example. What makes me "worthy" of writing this? I have written over 2.6 million words of fictional stories since roughly 8 PM on April 18th, 2018. I also have 3 years of advanced English classes under my belt and have continuously improved on my skills by taking in many influences and staying with writing as a hobby. This writing should prove to be a very valuable guide to just about anyone, even someone who is more so creating visual arts than writings. After all, storytelling takes countless forms, not just writing. Take Space Mountain at 5 of the 6 main Disney resort parks for example.
There is a deep lore and story for each Space Mountain which will get more interesting if France's Space Mountain is returned to its original theme. As well as when Tokyo Disneyland's new Space Mountain is complete, replacing the old version completely in the process. It is going to be a massive roller coaster. From construction pictures, you can see the beginnings of an enclosed tunnel layout among other things. Enclosed tunnel layouts are nothing new for Space Mountain but this one is going to be so amazing that it will become a world class roller coaster and icon very quickly. With that being said, I hope you choose to read through this entire writing and enjoy it. If you write more so things such as commentary on world events, you may also benefit from reading this too. Stories have been told since before history was first ever written in ancient times. We are a species of storytellers despite society's numerous attempts to take that away from the entire general population throughout the past few decades alone. As technology advanced, so did storytelling. Soon, we were able to begin telling stories not just of past hunts or our ancestors but of worlds that as far as we know, only exist in fiction.
Stories written by the likes of ancient civilizations in Greece, Rome, China, Japan, and more helped form the massive pool of imagination, inspiration, and so on we have access to today. The likes of the Greek Pantheon of Gods were created to help explain the likes of why lightning struck the ground before science discovered the actual reason. But even so, Ancient Greece has inspired so many media franchises like Yugioh and Saint Seiya.
It cannot be stated enough just how important fictional stories are in this day and age that is rapidly descending into a nightmare that may very well eclipse the Great Depression, World War 2, and the Cold War put together. But the future isnt dead yet, the fictional stories people tell are living proof of that. Horizons, Spaceship Earth, Space Mountain, the PeopleMover, and more from Disney parks as well as countless other sci fi storytelling experiences such as Star Trek, various Planet Coaster creations by members of the game's community, and my very own Minecraft theme park's Sector Infinity area are some of the examples of this fact. To weather the near future and try to survive long enough to rebuild in the ruins of what's still left, fictional stories are going to be oddly important. People underestimate the power of fictional stories so lets combat that together. Maybe there isn't a truly great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of the day yet but we havent reached the point that humans have to settle another planet yet either as seen in the storyline for Kings Island's Orion roller coaster. The 30 million dollar giga roller coaster is themed to a project known as the Orion Sequence that seeks to bring people to a whole other world entirely while the Earth itself faces destruction by meteors.
In 2019, the coaster was teased with a acronym that stood for "The End Of The World As We Know It". Im going to be honest about the state of our world a bit more before we get to the specifics in terms of tips for fiction writing. We are at a point where you could combine most infamous horror movies and they still wouldnt be as bad as whats coming nor have a equal kill count to it. Things are uncertain, the end of everything good still left appears near. It feels like humanity has catapulted itself straight into actual armageddon thanks to the influences of countless greedy and powerful human beings. We are seeing what is nearly the worst case scenario in many ways unfolding before our eyes and the general population either doesnt care or is welcoming this. We're courting death.
Despite all of this, our enemies may have won the battle for control but they havent won the entire game. They will dial up life to Ultra Hardcore Mode for as many people as they can get away with doing it to. I am not naming names, you know exactly who and what Im talking about. We are still on the board and we have something they dont have: the numbers and truly good intentioned imagination. We have the power in numbers, we have to stand in solidarity and fight back, even if it means taking great risks. Society has only changed socially the way it has through people risking everything in order to create a better world for all of us to live in. We have to fight, rest, and have fun. They must co exist or we will truly lose our wills to live and fight back. That is part of why I have created this writing. Lets get it now, shall we? Dont ever give up, they want us to give in and wallow in self pity and despair.
Dont give them the cravings they have as sadists. When despair gets you down, tell it off and kick its butt. When hesitation holds you back, find something important to do and start there and also tell hesitation to back off. Pretend youre starting to plan a fiction story to write to have the best experience with this writing. We'll start with a lot of of not all of the planning stage for a fictional story but this writing's direction will go wherever it ends up going. So.. What are you writing your story for? You need to have a purpose to write your story. For fun, to inform, to persuade, whatever it is, you absolutely need one. It could be as simple as to make fun of a aspect of society. Thats about 70% of the intention I have when I write my Chaotic Hangouts story. A story without a purpose even if its to explore pure chaotic evil chaos is a story without direction. And that is not a good thing to have going on at all. Who is the intended audience? Do you want it to be kid friendly to appeal to kids? Do you want it to be mature and violent for adult audiences only? You must have someone to write for, even if that someone is you.
But please try to have a somewhat large audience in mind for your story, something the size of fans of indie furry created literature is more than sufficient for a base intended audience. At the end of the day, you also have to like what you're writing so your story has to appeal to you to. That means inserting some if not all of your interests into your stories. Keep in mind of your audience when picking language to use and what media rating to give it. Needless to say, dont rate a story with gore and violence in it K or E for Everyone. That being said, those aren't necessarily the first things to focus on when creating a story. Let me introduce some of the main elements are a story. Plot, character, conflict, theme, and setting. The plot is your storyline, the events that happen, the synopsis and the ending/epliogue(if you want to have one). It is how you outline the direction of the story. To make a plot, you have to have a conherent storyline where everything makes sense and there are no holes in the plot in which something makes no sense or contradicts something else in your story. (Epilogues are usually post-story ending extra chapters sometime after the conclusion of a story while prologues have the opposite function. They are usually set sometime before the first chapter to help establish the plot.) You can plan it out from the getgo as little or as much as you want to. Just at least have an idea of how it begins and how it ends.
Conflict. Do you even have a story if theres no sort of conflict? Conflicts add depth and meaning to stories in part because we all have conflicts currently ongoing in our lives to differing degrees. They also help with coming up with both good and bad characters. You could say they are what makes the story have any plot at all whatsoever. There are stories out there without conflict but thats a whole other process, that stuff is like slice of life but with 0 social problems and so on. Conflict could be as absurdly simple as "Timmy stole my cookie!", the main character stubbing their toe, MC being forced to sit through a annoying 2 minute advertisement on YouTube, or "where's my phone?!".
They could also be as complex as villainous organization led by a guy who talks about pain a lot who is puppeted by a persumed dead character posing as an actual dead character posing as a really silly person who themselves are being used by that actual character who is being unknowingly used by an ancient being created by a dead "god" who was killed by their own half human children. I am not making that up. That is an actual thing in one of the most renowned Japanese fictional media franchises. Characters. It is true you can have a story without characters but thats really difficult and not something I personally recommend doing unless you have the patience, time, and ambition to do it. Even a nature documentary has characters to some degree. But without characters, a conflict really cant exist at all in a story. Every element of a story is needed to bring out the function of the other elements.
So lets get more specific. Who is/are your main character(s)? What are your main heroes and villains or otherwise? You should start there when it comes to characters. Main characters get the most screen time in stories because the brain is only able to handle so many characters in a scene in a story for instance. The way our minds work force us to have main characters to focus on. This actually helps with having a coherent plot so thats not the end of the world at all. You need to figure out at least basic outlines of your characters to begin. Their names, appearances, species, personalities, base abilities, skills, and so on. But dont worry, it should come easy to you if it doesnt already after you do it a few times. You can make up more details on everything as you go along. Its okay. Once you have your main characters, pick your secondary, side, and one off characters as you go.
This will help you out a whole lot in the future. If you want help with character design, you can design characters on Hero Forge, Gacha Life 2, and more for free or even through games like Miitopia, ROO: Ragnarok Origin, and the Sims 4. You can also commission artists and/or writers for such as well. There are plenty of options. Hell, you could just start with random characters with random names you made up if thats what you need to do. The only real limit is the imagination. I also recommend making diverse characters. Believe me, Ive seen enough media to know that only having white guys as main characters and so on is incredibly dull and boring. Theme. Lets be a little broad here. Im going to start with genre which belongs under theme. Genre is what type of story your story is. There's billions of possibilities with this. Science fiction, horror, slasher, realistic fiction, historical fiction, isekai, slice of life, death simulator, virtual world, countless others, a combination of 2 or more genres, or one of my favorite terms: genre chaos. Genre chaos is what happens when you are working with a whole bunch of genres and just seamlessly weave them together or transition from one to the next regularly. It can also be having specific genres next to each other in what may look like contradictory mayhem. Okay.
Maybe I made up genre chaos but I definitely in fact for certain made up my own interpretations of what it is. You can thank me building a Genre Chaos Cafe inside my Minecraft theme park to fill up space I didn't know what to do with otherwise last year. Now, theres also a genre chaos section of a water park about 300 blocks north of the theme park. And a hotel about 100 blocks south of Genre Chaos Cafe that has genre chaos hotel rooms. I would recommend looking up fiction genres if you still havent come up with anything or want to broaden your creative thinking. Now for the other portion of theme. Theme is also like what youre trying to say to your audience: the morals of your story. The statements youre trying to make. For example, my ongoing Alva Towne Unamusement Park story is focused on showing that horrible greedy people can be defeated even though there is nearly no limit to what they can do if they have a lot of money. There's a theme park exploration theme as well which is tied into friendship, teamwork, and sabotaging a evil system. Setting. Merchandising. Where the real money of the movie is made. Just kidding around, I was referencing Spaceballs. Settings are as vital as the other elements of a story. If you have no setting, you have nowhere to drop your characters in. You need at least one location where the story takes place and thats all there is to know with settings at a base level. You can go as far or as little as you wish with settings.
My stories over their 2.6 million+ words feature numerous settings. Once all of these elements of a story are figured out for your story or at least figured out okay enough to have something to add onto later, you can safely get started. When it comes to fanfiction stories, things are a little bit different but fundamentally the same. You just have existing characters and elements to work with as well with those and my stories are mostly fanfics themselves. Though they do include many original elements and characters as well, making them unlike anything else out there. A pizza planet inhabited by walking and talking pizza slices who are afraid of having their crust getting burned is one of my stories' original elements. There are more elements specifically like pacing. Pacing is very important and something I suggest you go with the flow with. Trying to find the sweet spot that makes your story not too fast or rushed but not agonizingly slow like Naruto Shippuden during that 100 episode streak of filler episodes. Consistency is related to pacing. Again, make sure most of everything makes sense in your story(except for silly chaotic things, they dont need to make sense). You should also strive to write each part of a story with consistent or better quality. Set a quality baseline mentally with your first, second, or third chapter and try to go for that for each following the chapter. Right. I should talk about the parts of a plot. Should have done this earlier. But its okay.
You have your beginning, middle, and end but it's more than just that in a story. In the first chunk of your story, you have to introduce your conflict and main characters and setting though they can always evolve or be replaced later. After that is rising action up to the middle of the story and beyond it as well. Rising action is where things really start getting good. It starts sometime after the introduction but not necessarily right away. And after a time, your story should peak to a climax: the most exciting part of a story before falling action leading to the resolution and the end of the story. Thats the basic gist of things but you can go with stories in just about any way you want to. You could have a scene from the climax at the beginning only to have it cut to the introduction. Movies love to do that angle pretty often. Additionally, there is also foreshadowing. It is a element in which you tease/hint at something that is to come soon or later in the story. Foreshadowing is often done very vaguely to not give much if anything away.
What other terms that are related to the elements of a story should I talk about before we move onto the nexy general topic? Well, there are various types of characters. Not just introverts, extroverts, narcissists, and so forth. Theres also types like D & D style personalities, the 16 personalities, and so on but Im not focusing on those. Lets start with flat character. Thats the kind of thing my focus is on now for this writing. Flat characters are characters who never change throughout the plot of a story. A round character is the opposite. Static and dynamic character are basically the same as each one respectively if Im not mistaken. If I think of anything else relevant to this topic, I'll add it here. Protagonists are the lead characters that the audience is meant to cheer on, they arent always lawful good or whatever. Antagonists are the main enemies in a story. Main characters are lead characters.
Side characters are characters who are there sometimes but don't get much screen time despite contributing to the plot a bit sometimes. Background characters are basically the same but they may be different in that they get no speaking roles or only show up once. Secondary characters support the main character(s). Heroes and villains are obvious in who they are. Anti heroes do bad things for good reasons usually. Anti villains are kind of the same but not exactly like good things for bad reasons I believe. There are actually many more types of characters so I wont go into them all. White knights are characters who save people often recklessly or at great cost, theyre why White Knight Syndrome is called White Knight Syndrome. That condition happens when someone cant help but save people even when it is not safe for them or the person they're saving either. Look up TVtropes or whatever that site is called, it has a lot of great information on types of characters and other things. That covers all the stuff I just thought of while going back through this. Okay, its time to move onto the all important grammar.
Grammar is essential for good quality story writing. You can write a story with poor grammar but it wont turn out as good. I only recommend doing that if youre just writing for yourself and for fun to the point you dont care at all about how badly the writing turns out or you find it hilarious. Make sure to use "proper grammar" if you want to write a good story, I put it in quotation marks because in my opinion, the insistence on good grammar goes too far too often in some situations. At the end of the day, you have to do your best to make your story readable. Using good punctuation, cutting up sections of text when needed, using quotation marks for dialogue, having a good grasp on transitions, and so on. You can follow the Chicago style for writing but not only is that something I dont do because I dont know the ins and outs of it.. But you really dont have to. As long as your story is readable with good written language, you will be okay. Try writing your story in a way that people could understand it. Explain needed context when you have to. Avoid repetition and long run on sentences. Use multiple words to describe when someone is talking. For example, fill in the blank I am leaving here: "Finally deciding to engage in conversation, Prince Vegeta *insert word(s) here*" with things such as: said, spoke up, says to the group, replied, yelled, and shouted. This exercise is here to help those who really are beginners at doing things like writing dialogue. But you can also go rouge and break all the grammar rules for the hell of it, its all up to you. In the same vein, lets talk about time skips and POV changes. In some stories, time jumps around a lot and/or the POV changes. Time skips are helpful for moving the story along.
The anime series Toward The Terra/Terra e uses time skips a lot to focus on all of the major moments over a 15 year period that occur as the Mu people seek out a abandoned Planet Earth in the distant future. But make sure any and all time skips fit with your story. Even some dark rides have time skips such as Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin at Disney World. and Gobbler Getaway at Holiday World. Buzz Lightyear's rooms have different scenes going on that lead to Emperor Zerg being blasted by the riders and going down after a cool tunnel scene. The scene after that skips to the part where Buzz and his alien friends have Zerg contained and captured. Gobbler Getaway is much more chaotic, not just because of the turkey noises its blasters make. The riders play the role of turkeys as they blast things, leading to all kinds of fun happenings. And then, a time skip happens for the finale in which you have turkeys singing a hilarious, wholesome, and fun song. When you write a time skip in text, you have to note the likes of "2 years later" in text somehow. I personally like the simple "2 years have passed" or the simpler *2 years later* with the asterisks. Whatever works, works. It's honestly very rare for a story to not have time skips if it's sufficiently long enough.
You could say the Haunted Mansion is one such story where time skips arent really a thing due to the constant action/narration. My own 45 minute or so long space roller coaster The Final Frontier: Journey Throughout The Universe in my Minecraft theme park technically counts too. Thats because the track between each bit of dialogue is more than extensive enough to represent crossing vast distances at speeds far beyond the speed of light. As for POV changes, I need to first go over types of POVs. Theres 2nd person which is very popular for character x reader types of stories. It uses words like "you" a lot but is hardly talked about or gone over. Its not something Im really interested in writing with myself. First person is the perspective a story has when a character is narrating basically the entire thing from their POV. My stories are about 98% first person with my self insert isekai'ed OC being the narrator for all but one of them. We'll get more into OCs in time because I need to go over them for sure. Just know that my self insert character took several years to be able to do things like create giant fire tornadoes using friction and their long one handed broadsword. Anyway, first person is arguably the easiest but then again, its also kinda hard because you have to write in their POV which usually is narrow due to not being omnipotent. There are ways to get around that problem somewhat such as having them become a spy or gain some kind of insight ability like the Byakugan from Naruto. And of course, other characters can help the MC narrator broaden their understanding of whats going on but thats really obvious. Now for third person. Theres 2 main types. Theres the main kind where the narrator is basically omnipotent, allowing them to focus on whatever they want to out there in the story's reality. Then theres the kind where its limited and mainly focused on one character for example such as the narrator in the Stanley Parable's POV. Theres also the odd situation in which someone refers to themselves in 3rd person.
Thats a fun one to play with. Now, about POV changes.. They can go however you want them. A lot of stories out there like to change it from one character to another and back. Miitopia has a primary focus on your protagonist character but sometimes, theres cutscenes where they arent present or they get too ill to go adventuring. Sword Art Online Integral Factor has a lot of MC focus too but theres a lot of scenes where they arent present to help give us a broader view of whats going on without making our characters abandoned and neglected despite us playing as them to progress through the storyline and beat up monsters.
Just be careful when you do POV changes, they should be deliberate, clever, and designed to expand the plot of your story by even just adding in foreshadowing moments of a villain plotting, creating chaos, or something. Now onto the next major topic. Motivation and that sort of thing. Motivation is crucial for developing a story. You cant write a story if you have no motivation at all. Having some there ties back into finding a purpose to write which I covered earlier. I write my stories for my own enjoyment, further developing my OCs, reaching out to readers to try to inform and change them for the better, and several other reasons. So how do you get motivated to write? Thats a question with numerous answers, it all boils down to you. You have to build up the drive and nerve to write. You have to feel the desire or need to write. And you can get that through millions of different sources: to have something to share with friends, to make a statement on something before its too late to, you name it. Inspiration is one way to get fired up to write as is a nice warm shower if it hits right. Just want to write, have direction, and have a reason to write and you should have the fire you need to write. You must find your passion if you dont have it already. Write about things that get you excited or passionate in other ways.
Basing your story off of your own experiences is an excellent way to find the passion you need to write it. But why write to begin with? What is the point of writing? Its a very open ended thing to ask but I will give you some answers anyway. Well, would you find any joy or satisfaction in letting AI generate text for you instead of writing it? I doubt it, you wouldnt be reading this if you wanted to do that crap, would you? Why anyone should write is to put their thoughts, memories, interests, and/or imaginations out there as written text and/or more. Writing is the most basic form of self expression and thats why AI generated text is such soulless garbage no matter how excessively elegantly ChatGPT generated text is.
Being able to write is a freedom that must never be taken away from us. When you choose to write fiction, you open up a good Pandora's Box of your own creativity because you can go anywhere by writing fiction. Writing is an ancient art much like drawing is. The written world offers us temporary refuge from the twisted, cartoonishly, and outrageously cruel capitalist civilization we are a part of. This is why you should write. To express your real self, to express what you have going on in your mind. Do not ever give up. Once you start writing, do your best to keep going until you finish or your body tells you its time for a break. If you are hesitant or afraid to even start writing, just write a short passage on a piece of paper or a private document. It doesnt have to be complicated. It could be about your day. Just spend a couple minutes on it and see how you feel about it after you do so. Big things start with small actions. The first chapter I ever made for any of my stories was 600 words long when I originally wrote it. Now, Im used to writing chapters over 7,000 words in length, most often over 10,000 in fact. My Minecraft theme park only became a thing because I decided to build a roller coaster for fun in a 256 by 256 block world that I had up to that point been using for over 2 months just for destruction and chaos. The theme park now takes up that entire space and has a resort around it thats going to add its 4th park and 4th and 5th hotels if things go to plan.
Because of a drawing I made for a print making project in 8th grade, I have gone on to created hundreds of drawings of OCs, other people's OCs, and various cartoon and anime characters. That also led to me going to trade school for 2 years for digital arts where I ended up learning a lot and making a friend in the form of my instructor and making friends with some of the other teachers and a peer of mine who graduated a year before I did.
Now lets talk about the infamous phantom known as "writer's block". My take on it is that its what happens when a writer cant write and has run out of ideas. This is usually due to burnout. You have to take breaks to take care of your needs while writing and when your mind feels drained from writing. Burnout is what happens when you persist with something for so long that it exhausts your mind, you feel tired, and you just want to stop doing it or are desperate to continue with it. Pace yourself with your writing, push yourself out of your comfort zone a bit but please dont push yourself too hard. Be patient with yourself as you write. Consider setting a goal to reach before you comfortably can stop writing one chapter and move onto the next one. If youre a poem or song writer, many of the concepts covered here still apply but you have a very different experience and set of rules going on for your work than I do as a full length fanfic story writer. To pace your attempts to push yourself, I believe doing it little by little is best. I started writing longer chapters by writing each chapter longer than the previous one in the first story I wrote. Thats an excellent way to start out and makes for a great story pace as well. I experienced burnout while writing the final chapters of that story because I put so much pressure on myself to write those chapters. I basically wrote 80k words in about 2.5 months, a record that would stand until late 2020 or sk after previously never doing writing to that level in that short of a time in my life. Had to take a week break to get back into writing.
Nowadays, I usually write my planned chapters in a massive monthly 6-7 day or so writing session and just not writing much again until the next session the following month. That means at least 2 weeks between sessions. There is a way to pressure yourself to get your writing done but it can be tricky. So heres how I do it in general. I set my writing goal and predict based on how much free time I have, how fast I generally write, and how many words I have to write left what date and time Im going to be done writing for the month. That gives me a timeline and projection for the location of the "finish line". And then, I try to write so that I get it done by that projected date and time. And when I start falling behind, I calmly urge myself to speed up by typing faster but usually end up writing at a calm relaxed pace that is still pretty fast anyway.
You need to find your writing rhythm, the speed at which you can write calmly without much stress if at all possible for you. There is a place for writing passionately but I prefer writing while calm. It allows me to more logically get my writing done. That allows me a more level and clear mind for creative thinking and I recommend writing while thinking of the exact words you want to write. That's how Ive done it for several years though it didnt start out that way for me. And for pressuring yourself to get writing, you just gotta do it in a chill ish way or a passionate way backed up by ideally music. The right music can help you write faster if it fits the mood of what youre writing. For example, I prefer to write action scenes over other kinds of scenes. I love writing battles and when I put on some instrumental death metal for example, I focus better and write faster when it comes to that stuff. The idea is to pressure yourself but not so much that your mind is constantly under stress as you write. But if you had an incentive for finishing writing, it would be easier to get yourself writing like theres no tomorrow. But dont rush your writing or any other creative works. Rushing and pressuring yourself too much is a problem when it happens. I spent a lot of time this past July stressed about trying to get to building this one water ride for my Minecraft theme park by the end of that month. I was able to but woof was I seriously stressed out. I learned my lesson and hope to never do that to myself again.
I think its time for us to talk more about planning a story. Is there anything important I didnt mention before on this? I covered pretty much all of the bases but I will say this. You should have some kind of at least vague mental checklist to follow to make it so you feel like you got everything you wanted in your story done when the whole thing is done. That includes word count, the resolution, and several key events for the course of your story's plot. But be flexible about it. Your story isnt going to turn out the way you envision it will because you are going to come up with better ways to present and write it. Thats just part of the process, its nothing to beat up yourself over. Its also known as improvising. When I write, I do a blend of planning and improvisation. I dont have the time or thinking space to plan out every little detail of my stories. I like having a general plan of whats going to happen before I write chapters for my ongoing stories. Improvising also helps you on the fly figure out the problems you discover as you write or even while brainstorming that you had yet resolved by the time you got to writing. No story is perfect, you are going to find errors in your story. Just be sure to actually read through what you write and fix and add to it as you see fit. Ideally, you should be able to fix many of the errors on your own but someone may still read your story and tell you that you made other errors and/or that you could improve this or add in or remove that. Theres a reason beta readers exist, beta readers can help you improve your story.
I dont have any beta readers but I still try my best to fix up the mistakes I make in my stories while being adamant about going the directions of my stories that I have already decided going on with a acceptance of needing to be adaptive and flexible. You know what else improvising is great for? Putting in stuff when your ideas that you already thought of begin to run dry or you need a way to get from where youre writing now to the next scene you have planned. (I suggest writing plot notes in each chapter at the bottom when writing digitally to help you plan out your stories and not actually forget about your plans completely while ironically not doing that often myself because Im so stubborn with my whole thing of storing my ideas inside my head) Writing battle scenes requires me to improvise a lot because it would take too long and be too complicated for me to plot out the entire course of a fight in my head. I can think "so Torvald The Turd will beat everyone back here only to later end up on the ground dying" but thats not enough for me, I largely need to improvise how I get to those things. If you have experience in improv comedy, you have an edge when it comes to fiction writing because improvisation is the most important skill for improv comedy. In fact, there are many ways skills you gained from other things can help you become a better writer. For example, being a real life swordsman can help you write melee combat scenes, particularly with at least one swordfighter involved much better. Experience is the best teacher, a lesson proven time and time again all over our world, our spaceship, Earth.
And riding roller coasters is the best possible way to learn how to write riding fictional ones. Im sure you get what Im putting down in this regard. It is now imperative that we talk about writing style. Don't try to copy the style of someone else. Due to 10 billion different reasons, every writer has their own distinct style of writing. Its heavily influenced by their social interactions growing up as well as the media they have been exposed to and all sorts of other things as well. Something I could have said earlier is that writing rules which affect your writing style cant be followed if you dont even know what they are. So dont worry if someone tells you something like "oh, in that story of yours, you use I too much as the first word for sentences" and you didnt know that, there is nothing to be ashamed of. You were writing based on the things you actually knew at the time you were writing it. Developing a writing style isnt easy, you have to just keep writing and it will help. You will get your own writing style. Just be again, patient with yourself and it will eventually emerge even if you start out with a style that mirrors another's. As long as your style doesnt mirror that soulless excessively elegant style of ChatGPT's, you will be okay. Side note: ChatGPT has used the word billowing when it comes to capes in the wind a lot so I explicitly use the words fluttering and swishing instead in that specific context. I was addicted to ChatGPT so I should know. That is also why I keep calling it out as soulless.
Generative "AI" is not a source of true joy. Do not under any circumstances use it to generate stuff. There is a beauty in finding your own writing style. Writing is an art and thats what makes writing so beautiful. Each of us generally has our own distinct way of speaking that is similar to the general population's generalized way of speaking but has key differences that make them different. I bet if you were to become fluent in another language besides your native tongue, your writing style would have a chance to really become interesting unlike a lot of the pesky ads that play on YouTube. Yes, I have a vendetta against advertisements in general. I find them so irritating that they rarely get me to buy anything. Anyway, this about well enough covers writing styles. Now for things you should NEVER EVER do while writing. Using generative "AI" is one of them. I cannot state enough that you should never use it. Its not even that great for research purposes. Youd be better off using a random idea generator. The biggest issues with generative "AI", the issues that the general populace really dont care about are as follows. The sheer amount of energy required to use gen "AI". Its so massive that it has caused an energy crisis which has fortunately not gotten massive enough to affect the power where I live. The energy gen "AI" uses is so bonkers that there has been a plan to reopen the Three Mile Island nuclear facility in Pennsylvania to power "AI".
Why is that bad? Three Mile Island was the site of a nuclear meltdown that was covered up so that it didnt become as notorious as the meltdowns in Ukraine and Japan in the 70s and 2011 respectively. But Three Mile Island isnt the only one they want to use. The next issue is just how much money it has cost to go so far into gen "AI" that we might as well tell companies who have embraced gen "AI" the equivalent of Regina George from Mean Girls telling Gretchen: "Stop trying to make 'fetch' happen. Its not going to happen." That industry is expected to implode in the coming years with it being such a massive market failure that the major "AI" companies could have paid thousands upon thousands od artists full time hours at a living wage to draw art for them for an entire year with the money they dropped into gen "AI". But of course, money and the economy are just excuses for cruel people to be cruel without pushback.
The whole "so what if people are getting slaughtered, my grocery bills are so expensive these days" vibe in full force. That disgustingly selfish and self centered energy and mindset. And the last major issue is the art theft, plagiarism, and more behind the development of generative "AI". So for those of you not in the know, heres how that happens. Someone creates a gen "AI" program and takes millions upon millions if not more creative works from the internet and feeds their data to that program. If that doesnt sound wrong to you, heres the thing. They do so without consent/permission, credit, compensation, or anything else. They think they have the right to use the creative works of creative people to train their programs without asking for permission or anything. See how Midjourney is pissed that artists use Nightshade and Glaze to protect their works against being used without permission to train "AI". Using creative works online for training gen "AI" is both art theft and in the case of writings, plagiarism. Now for what plagiarism is. Its taking text from something someone else made and copying it to something youve made or had a gen "AI" program generate for you without asking for permission or citing them to give them credit. Its also a form of copyright infringement. Under current copyright rules, people own their original works of the mind and things like fanfics are classified under derivatives, a legal way and part of fair use which allows to use someone else's work without permission so long as it isnt for profit. Gen "AI" programs are used to make money. So they violate copyright as well.
Thats how I see it at least. Copyright is really important to know about. Fanfics due to being fair use and stuff are kind of in a gray area so I suggest not writing them for money to be safe. Except when it comes to a Minecraft story. They might be fine, you might want to contact Mojang about that though but I dont really know actually. Other examples of fair use include parodies and commentary videos. Generally, as long as you dont use someone else's work for money and abide by fair use, you should be okay. Lets also take note of copyright symbols. NC means non-commercial. ND is no derivatives. SA stands for share-alike. BY equals attribution. The circle with a C means copyrighted. I cant remember any of whatever other ones there are but these should help you understand things a little better at least in terms of copyright right now under US law. I suspect its going to get extremely evil and chaotic come next year so we might see all kinds of nutty and evil things such as "AI" generated lard being able to be copyrighted.
Another thing you should never do while writing fiction is rush it. A rush job is usually a bad job. When you rush a story, it reduces your story's quality, messes up your storytelling, limits the time you spend thinking about what youre writing, and seriously wrecks planning the rest of the story out. Please. Avoid rushing any stories you write as much as you possibly can. The speed at which you write doesnt matter as much as the quality of your writing does. And every company that insists on max efficiency no matter the consequences of that can go kiss my shiny plate armored butt. Quality is more important than workspeed and it always will no matter what society tells us. Again. Never ever rush your writings. I have done it before. It doesnt turn out too well. Something else you should never do and I bring this up because I did this in my first full length story I ever wrote(the one I was just talking about a bit ago) is altering someone else's OCs drastically. But at least I got permission to use those OCs if I recall correctly. Please make sure you have permission to use them and dont alter the scope of who they are. Altering such is similar to scope creep which is unauthorized changes to a project's scope.
OCs are usually very personal characters, you should never alter them for your depictions of them in your stories. But thats exactly what I did and I lost some friends and experienced the worst day of my life because of that. To this day, I deeply regret what I did and have been on the path of bettering myself since that horrible day. I feel like I will never get the chance to truly make peace with the wrongs I did in that regard, it still bothers me a bit after over 6 years. I still feel so sorry for what I did and started to rewrite my first story this year of 2024 to replace the OCs I altered so drastically with some of my own OCs among other things. Try your best to depict other's OCs in your stories the way they do if you choose to use them and have permission to do so. Please. Oh and dont go too nuts with copying and pasting in your stories. The whole trying to avoid repetition thing again and all that. Now for.. filler.. Filler is additional stuff added to a story that isn't necessary for its main plot. I recommend avoiding adding in filler unless it actually helps your story and you think it feels right to add. And by that, I mean more than just adding in a few silly moments here and there.
Filler is great for side story stuff to help tide your audience over but dont use it as a crutch. Its very easy to do filler badly. Naruto Shippuden's amount of filler is infamous. It has so many filler episodes. And dont even get me started with how long the fights are in the original run of Dragon Ball Z which just screams filler. Its so bad that I accidentally took little naps while watching them go on and on and just drag on. I love me a good fight but Im so glad the Dragon Ball Z Kai release of Dragon Ball Z cuts down on those fights. I wish it didnt cut the chaotic scenes during Goku's journey along Snake Way to King Kai's planet but at least some of the fights are no longer dreadfully long in it. If you want to see some actual excellent filler that doesnt feel annoyingly unnecessary to the point you dont feel like you just want it to fricking stop already, check out Yugioh Duel Monsters. Season 4 is literally just filler and its absolutely incredible. It adds in an entire Ancient Atlantis plotline to the show along with a good number of anime exclusive characters such as 3 awesome looking knights. Those capes and full body suits of plate armor are just chef's kiss(side note: the only suit I'll ever wear is a suit of plate armor, suit and ties are overrated, give off self important vibes to me, and can be seen as someone trying to dress up as fancy penguins). What makes that season such great filler is that it literally delays the events of the rest of the show. It does so by playing on something that was supposed to succeed now that a certain someone got everything they needed to do something very importany fail due to literal sabotage and later, theft by bikers as well. It also has a drastic personality change for one of the most notable characters of the series.
While in Naruto Shippuden, the filler doesnt really do that at all. During the 100 episode streak of just filler episode after filler episode, there was a lot of unnecessary added in plot stuff focusing on flashbacks of events that we didnt know about before that happened well before the point in the plot where viewers are left off with. This giant cliffhanger during the climax of the show. Like the writers and animators and so on had any other choice. They got into a sticky situation. You couldnt just Yugioh Season 4 style filler your way to tiding the audience over while the manga was continued long enough to begin to conclude the main storyline at last with Naruto Shippuden. The cliffhanger episode was literally mid battle when it concluded and making something happen after that as filler would have flopped spectacularly and ruined the rest of the show. Now for the last writing no no, do not write solely for the sake of making money. Oh yeah. That is a solid justification for writing but alone, it is a terrible reason to write.
If you are going to make money from writing or at least, that's what you plan on doing, you better actually enjoy what youre writing as well and not be completely selfish about it. Otherwise, the story's going to suffer and so are you. Dont do that to yourself. Have the passion to enjoy what you're writing for the purpose of making money to survive. If you write just for the money, you are either greedy or very desperate. Okay. Time to talk more on fanfics. Fanfiction is fiction about already existing fictional media by fans of said fictional media. Note that I didnt say content. Content is a neutral and soulless word with no emotion or passion behind it. It has been used to devalue creative works and can be used to dehumanize artists and others as well. We need to steer away from calling ourselves content creators especially now that neoliberalism is just black holing into straight up tyranny. We're creatives. We're media makers. Not content creators. Get it right or get lost, society. Fanfiction is legitimate media too, its not something to just make fun of. Its been a thing longer than it has been a term. We can argue that the Bible is kind of a really long fanfiction but thats a whole other can of worms I dont want to open. Okay, I just ironically opened it by saying what I said, didn't I? Oh well. We already went over how fanfics fit into copyright so lets move onto enjoying yourself while writing and why you must be able to do so. It is essential because storytelling has evolved largely to entertain the storyteller and their captive audience at the same time. Most stories are meant to be fun.
I believe many people enjoy sharing their funny stories more than any other of the stories of their lives. If stories werent to be fun to tell, our world and its cultures would look very differently. There would be no theme parks, movie franchises, or MMORPG games if storytelling was never meant to be fun in all the years that it has been a thing. If you cant enjoy yourself while writing your own story, what in tarnation are you even doing? I mean. Look, all you have to do to enjoy what youre writing is even just calmly write things that you are passionate about. As long as you are doing what you wanted to do with your story, you ARE enjoying it, 10 billion %. I get it, writing a story can be EXTREMELY hard. It is a challenge unlike any other but should you beat and clear the challenge, you will feel a sense of relief and satisfaction as long as you did it yourself, didnt rush it, and so on. I could go on about just how satisfying writing fiction truly is in part because in fiction, you can break the very laws of reality as much as you want and thats awesome.
But Im not going to go deeper into that. I nerd out about so many things as it is so Im going to spare you from that in regards to this stuff. I believe it is best we next cover what happens when you dont enjoy writing more in depth than already so far up to now. It isnt just burnout or the quality of your work suffering. It can also be a detriment to your very motivation. How would you feel working hours on something you dont enjoy? I think most people know what thats like due to society's insistence that people have to work difficult jobs to deserve to actually have financially okay lives which is utter nonsense. If someone is alive, they deserve happiness and the help they need to be better and live thriving lives. Now imagine that feeling I just asked you about and apply it here. Bingo. Thats basically what would happen if you didnt enjoy what you are writing. It could also affect your mental health beyond that too. Given enough time of working on writing a story you arent enjoying writing, you will start developing physical problems too. I have a sibling who was hyper stressed out due to work and had to quit due to how draining their job was. Before they quit, they were miserable. Their mental and physical health suffered for it. Enjoying what youre writing is the most important thing. Even if you are writing something dead serious.. Like a fictional story that reflects whats going on in our world as in the really messed up BS thats happening in our world..
You still have to find joy in what youre creating. Even if that joy comes from spite or the idea of "hey, writing this thing could allow me to help other people realize what the hell is actually going on!". Okay. Spiteful joy is probably hit or miss but still. If you arent enjoying the story you're writing, find a way to enjoy it. Even if it takes talking to someone else for hours to find that joy in writing your story. After all, there are so many positives of having fun writing. Allow me to list out some of those positives. There are just so many that I doubt even I could think of them all even if I tried to. Having something to share with the world, a thing to celebrate, better mental health, increase in confidence and skill, new memories made through writing, the creation of something you can expand later, and the potential for new connections and a source of income. It takes a bit of both logic and imagination to come up with some of the many positives of having fun writing and completing said writing. Fiction is truly an underestimated force. Thats what the forces of evil in our world are so quick to weaponize it against groups seen as inferior to them.
The fantasties, the lies, all that other crap. You could consider my stating this as a call to fight back by creating fiction that resists these forces of evil and dreams of a better future for us all at long last, damn it! This is our world too so go out there and create a fictional story with no holds bars! With that energy, I will transition to the next topic: social behavior that comes about due to you writing and/or publishing your story somewhere. The good and the bad. We'll start with covering criticism for your fictional works and how to handle it. Starting with constructive criticism. Its feedback that is usually expressed in a balanced way where the poster tells you what they like and what they think could have done better in nice language. Simple to understand. Its also simple to respond to. You should respond with a thank you and express thinking over their feedback and stating that youll see what you can do better for certain. What I like to call destructive criticism is callous, uncalled for, rude, and all kinds of bad in general. Its impossible to gleam genuine feedback from it but youre better off just not responding and blocking them. Irl, you should get away from them. But if you really have to respond instead of ignoring them, you should ask if they're okay and if they need someone to talk to. Or you could go the funny route where all you say are hilarious responses. Or the logical approach but that one's sadly the least effective from what Ive seen and heard. Just dont fall for their bait. A lot of people leave rude comments online solely to get a rise out of people. Thats why you should block all far right accounts you see if you are on Bluesky. Bewilder the people dumping on your stuff or just block them. Thats the summary of what you need to do. Now for more on when to block. You need to block people who have no interest in calm discussion with you, insult you, attempt to harrass you, or other unsocial behaviors. Dont sweat the petty or pet the sweaty.
Thats it for that I guess. As a writer, there are certain behaviors that you should employ in order to build your audience and really get your story a platform once it's finished. (Lowkey, anyone who writes about something passionately at the bare minimum can be considered writers so.. Youre a writer and youre a writer and youre a writer, everyone's a writer!) You could say these are reminders of some of what a good person should do. You should thank everyone who reads and likes your story. Be kind to others unless they give you enough BS to not deserve any kindness. Dont be afraid to be yourself and do not comply with the boring as hell/depressing as crap vibes of general society. Care for others and be honest about your story. And so on. It would be best to follow the outline of the presentation this is based on more so lets talk about your audience some more, hmm? What am I? Bootleg Tom Nook from Animal Crossing or Deidara from Naruto?! Just kidding. You really need to have a grasp on what your audience is intended to be. On sites like Fanfiction, that is super easy to figure out. All you have to do is list out 1 or 2 media series your story will use, the rating of the story, and its 2 main genres. And boom, you have a base potental audience.
Even without that handy, you will still really need to establish an intended audience. Think about who youd like to write the story for other than yourself and work from there. As I said before, there are many many different kinds of audiences from as broad as all kids to one other person. The media rating will seriously play a big role because it will help determine what you can and cannot write. For the largest potential audience, a K rating is best. For getting adults to read your story, T or M or higher are best. K is all ages and designed with kids in mind. E is for everyone. T is for teenagers and can include some intense violence and language. R is for mostly really horrifying stories I believe. M is for mature as in adults. We've covered a lot here so far but there are still things to cover. At least this writing appears to be drawing near to a conclusion. Thank goodness. Lets now dive into the world of the imagination itself for real as well as that of originality. For writing a good story, both are vital. If your story doesnt have either one, your story is going to suck and you might be susceptible to using gen "AI" instead which is very bad. You gotta embrace your imagination and its relation to all of your senses like Figment encourages people to do in his EPCOT attraction: Journey Into Imagination With Figment. Just look it up on YouTube and you will see what I mean if you dont already see what I mean. Figment has it right on the imagination unlike society in general. Now lets discuss what it means to be original. They say there is no such thing as an original idea anymore and I 90% agree but there is something people miss when they say that. The fact that there are still many original twists and combinations of ideas that have yet to be created and unleashed onto the world. Like who in the world comes up with a solar system that notably has a pizza planet called Tomapie and a giant yellow sequence star sized oven called Ovenzilla that serves as the system's star?! No one except for me!
To be original is to come up with something no one has seemingly come up with yet and to stand out a bit and actually have a real personality. Not the really boring copy paste macho white man who loves beer, American football, women's parts, refuses to express their sadness when they feel sad, and is probably Christian one. I know people who are basically like that and damn is it so boring to talk to them. Like do they have any unique or distinct interests at all?! I dont really feel comfortable talking to them about my interests, theyre in general kinda dull.
When it comes to coming up with original ideas, everyone does it differently. You have to have inspiration of some kind and just think and think and think. Try to come up with something you have never seen done before. Dont fit in with the crowd when it comes to your story. Thats also really boring, following the norms in fiction and even fanfiction writing is same old same old. It hampers your creativity so please dont do that for the sake of your imagination but don't hesitate to get ideas for such because you could put a unique spin on it. Even when you write fanfics like I do, there are still so many ways to be original. Genderbending is popular but theres a way to do that differently. I mean, you could even explore the nuttiness of trying to genderbend someone who doesnt identify with a gender such as a omnipotent being because gender has no meaning in the eyes of such a powerful being. I know you can come up with original twists on various ideas! You can mix and match them together if thats what it takes. You can do it! We'll talk more about inspiration later. As for the imagination, it is a truly beautiful thing that is like a muscle of sorts. It doesnt have mass like muscles do but you can train it to grow stronger just like a muscle. The imagination allows us to think outside of our current reality and think of how thinhs could be better, how they could be worse, have a sense of humor, theorize things, or even come up with made up worlds by ourselves and more. There is no true limit to what the imagination can come up with. Just embrace your imagination and keep striving to strengthen it. To do that, you have to build a massive visual library by seeing the world around you and consuming lots of fictional media as well. And you just have to keep creating creative things, hold on your fantasies, dreams, and desires, and coming up with original ideas among other methods of growing your imagination. Thats how the imagination grows stronger. And in order to think creatively to begin with, you have to have at least one original idea to start with.
It could be envisioning your next or first ever vacation, it could be playing with a plushie and pretending they're alive and can talk, it could be coming up with a silly or evil voice for fun, anything works except for dad jokes(or at least I doubt dad jokes would help). And when you have an idea, you just run with it and keep trying to think about new things even if you have to let your mind wander some as well as play some calm music or something for the required focus. The power of imagination is virtually limitless. With all of the original twists I have come up with, I should know this personally. I came up with a unique eye transformation for my stories. Its known as the Artist's Eye, bringing the expression of having an artist's eye to life in a way inspired by the Sharingan and Rinnegan of Naruto. My self insert OC has that eye transformation and I will be talking about them more as an example of a self insert OC soon.
The Artist's Eye causes one or more of the user's eyes to turn pink. Yes, we stan characters with many eyeballs in this so called "echo chamber". When the eye(s) turn pink, its game time because now, the user can use their imagination to bring something to life through their eye(s). But it cant just be anything. It has to be something the user understands well and has a strong enough imagination for conjuring it to life. There are 3 other major restrictions. At first, a user of the Artist's Eye will suffer from a lot of eye strain if they try to use it for more than around 20 seconds. Practice makes perfect so they have to practice with it to increase the amount of use it takes to strain the eye(s). The eye strain forces the eye(s) to be closed and to tear up automatically when forced to be kept open. Then there's the fact that you have to have a strong focus while using the Artist's Eye or you will lose whatever youre making. Also, objects created by the Artist's Eye do not usually stick around forever unless their mass is significantly altered somehow like in the case of someone eating and digesting food brought into existence by the ability. There are other drawbacks but the positives include the possibility of going wild with it if you know what youre doing. For example, being able to call up memories of a place the user has been to and temporarily replicate it in a nearby location to their position of their choice. The Artist's Eye can also allow someone to peer into another universe or something like that to gain valuable information. Canonically, in my stories, those who are storytellers without realizing it or not are most often peering into other universes or timelines or dimensions or realities when they create their stories.
The Artist's Eye is like an extension of that, one must have a strong imagination to awaken it to begin with, it isnt just handed to people on a silver platter like "oh hi there, youre a chosen one, heres the Artist's Eye, please learn to control it". It just doesn't work like that. With how potent a strong imagination is, its safe to say that if every good aligned character in my stories ended up unlocking it, the forces of evil in my stories would in some cases pee their pants as a reaction to that. Hell, the abillty evolves in stages at first as the user increases the amount of time they can use it before needing to rest their eye. It's compatible with things like swords that are designed to safely take in energy because the Artist's Eye generates creative imagination energy.
And after a certain point, the Artist's Eye: Evolution is unlocked, causing green markings to appear around the eye(s) of the user when activated. But it isnt just cool solely for that, it does things. To do things by unlocking the ability, it requires a strong understanding of dreams and nightmares including venturing inside a dimension where all dreams and dream worlds exist ultimately: the Dreamverse. But once it's unlocked, its user can send others into dreams, nightmares, or a combination of the two by sending them to sleep and so forth. Even works during battle on some enemies. With the Artist's Eye, even the most absurd concepts and ideas can come to life after the user has reached certain criteria to pull that off through it. Such as using the imagination to create smoking and burning roller coaster cars straight out of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 destined to crash into the enemy or constantly heal their own body despite it being constantly battered by attacks from the enemy. Even if their body is literally undead and only maintained through their own mana. My self insert OC is the main character shown to use Artist's Eye in my stories but they have a mentor in the use of the Artist's Eye and others will learn to awaken and use it too in time. OCs are quite wonderful, arent they? Theyre original characters created by individuals as mostly personal creations. Some have hundreds of OCs like me with a focus on about 15-20 of them and a special focus on 8 of those while others have just a few. It really depends. An OC can be anything you want them to be even as a person isekaied as a vending machine or a reverse isekied fantasy world legendary sword wielding hero with knightly full body plate armor who gets reincarnated as or summoned into the body of a amusement park ride operator.
Or a galaxy eating giant popcorn monster or sentient giant forbidden cookie tainted by dark magic and other dangerous things. Or truly twisted villains who are just downright horrible individuals with no redeeming qualities. The sky is the limit. Thats whats so great about OCs. They even embody different aspects of their creators such as being culminations of everything their creators despise, being the little kid their creator just really wants to be sometimes, or being the brave hero their creator is trying to be someway somehow. There is something I should state that doesnt just apply to OCs but to fan depictions of characters as well. Shipping is fine. You can ship your OCs together, your OCs with other characters, or other characters with other characters. As long as you do it based on knowing that minors and animals cannot consent to adult activities and must be kept away from those activities and respecting the specific sexualities of characters. Its to say the least, really offputting to ship someone who is lesbian with a man for example. Please avoid doing that. Self insert OCs are a whole other subject because they're fictional versions of their creators. That means there are some rules that should be followed that don't necessarily apply to other OCs. For the sake of storytelling, please avoid making your self insert OCs super OP, uber important, or perfect. Making a self insert perfect is boring, self serving and selfish, and terrible for storytelling. You need to make a self insert as flawed as you are.
Theyre the characters who can be voices for our world while in other worlds. You have suffered in your life at least a few times so make your self insert OC suffer too. Make them SUFFER. Making self insert characters OP isnt off the table completely but you should make them earn the right to be OP first. Self insert OCs are fun because you can write them as just you in the here and now or past or future except you got sent to another world one day. Theyre also a shortcut for getting good at writing first person as well as practicing having complex characters with problems and strong feels. When done right, they can be an anchor without being egotistical or always at the center of attention. My self insert OC was isekaied to Animal Crossing New Leaf in December 2017 just after my ACNL character was created. Before that, they met some of my other OCs in a dream version of my unique version of Miitopia populated by most of my miis from Tomodachi Life plus a few others. Not long after arriving in the town of Fun Land, they become mayor through strange circumstances with a mysterious voice that watches them over in Fun Land possibly behind it(still have yet to dive into that piece of ACNL unknowns in the plot of my stories, I need to someday). Over the years, many things happen and they become friends with a lot of good characters including OCs. That was after being told they were chosen by Yugioh's version of Ra and thus gained light and fire magic. Offscreen, they are trained in swordplay by a unique exclusive to my stories Yugioh Zexal style number card called Smokeflare. But none of that made them all powerful at all. Throughout the passage of time, they and so many others get dragged into multiversal conflict after multiversal conflict.
From Nov 2018-May 2019, they learned to become a mage at a school within Minecraft called the Lost Academia along with many friends. Together, they and their friends and allies brought down 3 corrupt forces within that part of Minecraft including the bigoted Bowling and his murderous bigoted purist group The Life Stealers. From Oct 2020 ish-September 2021, a future evil version of the hilarious OC who is a clown who knows how to make food: Fluffy Afro messes with time throughout reality. It takes a lot such as my self insert OC giving up their powers to put an end to the villain. Nowadays, my self insert OC, having mostly walked away from their given name is known as Dark Knight Swiftdrawer, a isekaied nerd turned warrior turned knight who became a knight early November 2022 in Miitopia. Just in time to fight tyranny for months all over Miitopia in the name of the people, the revolution, the communes, liberation, freedom, and more. They are in a relationship with a fellow knight who can transform into a pegasus and has a rather knightly personality with a very sweet, prone to blushing side. Additionally, they are part of a leaderless collective known as BRAINS, the Knights Of Miitopia(leaderless by choice since Nov 2022), a reformed post-Pain's Assault version of the Akatsuki(featuring killed Akatsuki members brought back to life and changed to be better except for Black Zetsu), and a few other things. Swiftdrawer is literally still me but also leading a 2nd life in a currently undead body across the multiverse. They have never really succeeded at saving the day alone because an individual is not nearly as powerful when they arent part of a collective of likeminded individuals and groups fighting for whats really right together.
So I should say I instead of saying Swiftdrawer because they are me to the point I most prefer to be referred to as Swiftdrawer and my life is their life and vice versa canonically, we are one mind and being. So heres how strong I currently am as a dark knight after taking literally several years to reach that. My attacks can cause the destruction of several city blocks in a modern city and yet, due to the absurd power scaling in my stories, thats hardly ever enough to stop the enemy. Like the power scaling is so off the charts that Frieza just got a new Crimson Frieza form a couple of months ago and an ex bloodthirsty villain OC of mine named Yappa Yappa just casually gained the powers and armor of a dark lord recently. And even among my OCs, I am not the most powerful one, there are a good number even powerful than I am in my undead body including Yappa Yappa. The version of me in the past attending the Lost Academia would easily have the stuffing beaten out of them by me in my dead body in the present. My knightly plate armor weighs over a thousand pounds but I can move fast just fine anyway. Even among self insert OCs, I stand out. I should know. I have read stories with other self insert OCs but in those stories, those OCs typically get summoned to another world and never return. I was summoned to another world and return to my original body in our universe frequently at a rate of once a day. There truly is no limit to what you can do with a self insert OC as I have just proved.
Self inserts are tricky though so again, dont make them flawless or OP just like that. A flawless character is a boring character who never changes and is more of a nusiance than anything. Thats why self important people and characters who think they're perfect are so annoying to deal with. Imagine being so self serving that you think theres no way you have or could ever make a mistake in your life. I talk about egotistical people in my stories, in my opinion, I have written some seriously powerful things regarding them as a result. Now then, we must move onto original settings and plots at last. These are really fun to play around. Even if you write fanfics like I do, you really should strive to make up original settings and plots. A friend of mine who writes his own fanfic series has a immersive in depth original plot that also includes altered versions of things like the Hueco Mundo Arc in Bleach and the Pain's Assault Arc in Naruto Shippuden. I just do the original plots for the most part but with arcs from various series sometimes mentioned. Though I did do a thing where the Pain's Assault Arc gets kind of interrupted by a twisted CEO with dark powersI came up with. Dont be afraid to make up original settings with weird elements or names. I have made up a lot of original settings as well as plots. Original plots are what set my fanfic stories apart.
There are so many characters in those plots that they all become distinct and memorable with ease in their own rights. There are literally trillions of routes you can go for for creating original settings and plots. And inspiration is part of the key to making that and so many other things succeed. It is the crux of creativity. If you have no inspiration, you might as well have no story at all to work on. Inspiration is getting ideas from something that already exists and at least intending on using them for your problem solving or creative projects. Getting inspiration is usually the best way to get out of a ran out of ideas funk. There are so many ways to get inspiration, just look around the world and at media of all kinds for example. When you feel inspired, your creative thinking gets seriously energized and suddenly, you are just bursting with creative energy in your mind as well. You just get in the zone and let the ideas flow. But is best to clear your mind if things that you need to do that bother you before you get inspired so do that. Actually writing out ideas and things you need and want to do helps clear out your mind pretty well for coming up with ideas. Especially for brainstorming sessions where you at least try to come up with ideas by thinking and thinking and thinking. Music helps as I sorta mentioned before but it can also not help and just make your mind wander. You have to find the right music for thinking of ideas and sadly for me, intense action music isnt good for that outside of thoughts relevant to such music. And of course, there are still other ways to get inspiration and such.
Art, science, history, and so on can seriously help you not jist get some ideas but make your plot make more sense and have more relevance. You can source inspiration straight out of what you already know or research say, some sea shanties to make what you need to write your own sea shanties for your story. Research what you dont know or to find something new or fun. Sociology helps you write social behavior better, physics helps add irl physics into the mix, anatomy helps with anything related to exercise or the human body, you name it. I have benefitted greatly from using what Ive learned from various fields of study to help me write my stories and will continue to do so, even if my writing means being a truly disobedient person who refuses to comply in advance or ever. Here are other fields of study that can help you write better as well: engineering, economics(although many if not all or most economists are kinda full of crap), biology, geology, graphic design, typography, and color theory. To be honest, just about any field of study can help you write better. This basically covers this topic specifically well enough. Onto scams and scammers because I literally have been contacted by scammers on Fanfiction telling me some variation of "hi, I like your story, I have some ideas Id like to draw based on it if youre interested". This is such a big issue on there that theres a long blocklist of many scam accounts doing that by following fanfiction users and messaging them or reviewing one of their stories to say crap like that. It has been going on since early August essentially and it just keeps on going. And on Bluesky, there are so many obvious fake artist accounts, its mind blowing. Scammers like these have been around for years but now, its like Artstation is behind a sudden surge of them. These days, scammers use "AI" image generators and/or steal the artwork of artists to try to scam fanfiction writers and others out of their money. And they sometimes succeed at doing it.Obviously, something really messed up is going on with all of these scam accounts popping up. So we're going to have to talk about how to spot scammers. I will be speaking of how to spot the kinds of scammers I have just described specifically but there are many other scams out there. Such as the one where a family member calls you from an unknown number asking you for money. Thats a devious scam you have to be weary of. Okay, so how do you spot a scammer like the first kind I described. Well, youll get either really professional to a possible too perfect and elegant level first message or review or just plain broken English. They will attempt to lure you in by complementing your story which falls flat on its face when they bother me because usually, scammers say just "your story" when supposedly complimenting one of my stories to me.
(I have asked some scammers what their art process is for creating digital art but they never answer that question) Most never specify what story of yours they like and if you press for details, they will usually reveal they didnt actually read the stories of yours they liked so much. They also like to mention commission or collaboration somewhere when theyre contacting you. If their messaging means they're advertising to you to get you to commission to them, thats an obvious scam, dont fall for it. Legitimate professional artists dont do that ever. Their clients come to them, not the other way around. Other times, they may write to you in that overly elegant style that is also found on ChatGPT because they couldnt even bother to write their first message themselves. Recently, they have been changing their wording to fool people better by steering away from the whole "Im an artist" line in their messages and such. But that isnt going to fool that many people. If someone youve never met before compliments your story and tells you they have some ideas they wanna draw or to collaborate with you, its almost certainly a scam. Look for social behavior that seems off if you cant identify someone as a scammer or not when they contact you despite what I have shared here. Hell, some have even resorted to asking for book recommendations in order to start a conversation to try to scam fanfiction users out of their money. What a mad mad mad world we live in. Its like the entirety of human civilization has turned into a damn abridged series at this point. Remember to be cautious online and be alert when you see something that's off. And also, you cant always spot scams right away. I have been a victim of some scams so I should know. Overly aggressive language about needing help and such is usually a dead giveaway in other cases of scam.
As for the fake artist profiles on the likes of Bluesky, heres what to look out for. Following a lot of people while having few followers and not many posts. And among those many posts, all you see are artworks with the word "preview" watermarked a lot of times over it. And often, they like to randomly comment on people's posts when they mention anything like the word "commission" offering to make artwork for them. Which is again, not something professional artists do. Pro artists only do anything like that when someone asks for someone to commission for something and even then, they still have a full portfolio and excellent customer service. On Bluesky, there are blocklists for blocking those kinds of accounts, thank goodness. And of course, gen "AI" itself is a giant scam but Im not going to cover that any further than I already have up to now.
Also, one more type of scam to look out for is the "sugar mommy" type scam where someone you dont know comes into your DMs asking if you were given x amount of money, what would you do it. Years ago, they would more blatantly ask if people wanted them to be their sugar mommy. Several years before I deleted my Twitter account last year, back when I was still a minor, I got messaged by a sugar mommy scam account. Glad I blocked and saw them as a scam right away. I was also messaged by p0rn bots when I was still a minor on there and they always had icon pictures of women usually perceived as attractive in a "spicy" way by general society. Thats so wrong. Also, let me once again emphasize the following: never ever use "AI" to generate text. Don't use it to generate story covers either. Make the covers yourself or pay someone else to do it. There are a lot of artists who are willing to do that for you if you commission them for such. I went a little more broad than I expected with covering scams to look out for. Thats actually a good thing. And with that said, its time to move onto writing mistakes that should be covered because while writing, you are probably going to make a lot of mistakes. No matter how good you are or get at writing fiction, you are still going to end up making at least some mistakes. And thats okay so long as you fix them and learn from them. Already talked about plot holes but I must insist on saying to avoid them at all costs.
Keep your story consistent as I have said before and try to remember or jot down every important detail written so far so that you don't accidentally create a plot hole. Grammar/spelling mistakes. You can catch those by proofreading your writing or using a spellchecking tool if you're writing digitally, dont use the likes of Grammarly which uses gen "AI" now apparently as far as I know. For digital writing, your device probably has spellchecking things in place already so you can use those to help you out but be warned: autocorrect doesnt always get things right and occasionally makes you correct words to weird wordd. Sometimes, you have to teach it things like for me personally, yes, my chosen name which is my true name at this point(given name be damned) and is a compound word that is being spelled correctly, autocorrect. I am Swiftdrawer and nothing or no one can tell me otherwise, not even auto correct. Another major mistake you may make is forgetting key details and events about your characters, whoopsies! Ive done it a lot! To remedy that, consider building character bios for your characters as you write your story, briefly summarizing any events that happen to them in such things.
You can also keep thinking about your characters but that can seriously clutter your consciousness so much like letting annoyingly irritating and distracting unprompted 2 minute ads play on YouTube without you hitting skip, I really don't recommend it at all. Getting distracted and losing your train of thought is one of the easiest mistakes to make while writing ever. I have done it hundreds if not thousands of times. Social media can really pull you away from writing. So how do you fight that? Its easy if you write on paper. Keep all distractions away from you as best as you can. But you are going to end up getting distracted eventually no matter what you do because our attention spans are only so strong. These days, mass media has seriously chipped away at most people's attention spans. So please note that but dont give up on reducing the chance of you getting distracted because regaining a train of thought is hard to do after it is lost. Digitally, you need to zero in on the program youre writing your story in. Ideally, listening to music might help and you should be writing on a non browser app on something like notes for Apple devices for example or Fanfiction's app. If you are writing your story on a app, consider using guided access if you have it as a thing on your device. You can activate it in your device's settings. I have used it recently and it helped me out a lot. You have to enable it first through accessibility in the case of on my iPad to use it. And then, mess with the options, create a passcode for getting out of it, and turn it on by pressing the home button 3 times in a row very quickly after applying pressure to the button with a finger. Look up focus based things for more information on how to avoid getting distracted but dont fall for anyone trying to sell you something like some magical supplement that will help you focus better.
Mary Sues are an infamous cliche in fanfiction particularly. These perfect characters who have 0 flaws. Dont create them. Stay away from making Mary Sues unless you want to make a truly terrifying villain or an absurdly hilarious hero like One Punch Man who one shots almost everyone but has no flaws unlike One Punch Man who still has some flaws. Mary Sues are just ridiculous characters, they can't exist in our reality. Their perfection is impossible. And sometimes, unforeseen issues can mess fiction writers up like the wi fi suddenly dying for some damn reason. You have to just do your best to deal with that problem and take notes of what the sudden issue is forcing you to basically forget. Now, earlier, I brought up using one's own experiences to help them out with writing fiction. I believe I need to go further into that for y'all. We'll go over some specific experiences that can help you write better. Sword training/other physical training. This goes beyond helping you write melee combat better. It also helps you describe the movements of your characters as they fight it out should you want to write a fight of some kind. It also gives you firsthand experience with muscle burning caused by lactic acid buildup from working out and forcing a inefficient chemical reaction to occur to give your muscles more energy and such. Wearing something is rather interesting because by wearing something, it becomes a lot easier to highlight the pros and cons of wearing it and what it feels like to do so. For example, you might notice a sudden uptake in complaints about plate armor being so hard to put on in my stories. Because I in fact struggled with putting my own plate armor on multiple times in the past irl starting with my first time July 2023 ish.
I know how it feels to have that stuff on and honestly, wearing plate armor doesnt feel nearly as tight as being locked in a roller coaster seat on a roller coaster with large over the shoulder restraints such as inverted, LIM/LSM, and flying coasters. Honestly, I kinda love the weight of shoulder armor on my shoulders. Deep down, since I rarely put on my plate armor, I long for the feel of the shoulder armor upon my shoulders. Im into some weird things, this along with the sounds of clinking plate armor and roller coaster chain lifts are just some of those weird things Im into. Speaking of roller coasters, once again, riding something can really help you write about a character doing the same thing or similar. As well as writing about the sounds that happen due to riding them. Thats why my story Alva Towne Unamusement Park feels pretty fleshed out, I have spent thousands upon thousands of hours in amusement/theme parks so I know the whole shebang. In that story, you see details like me writing about people screaming as a roller coaster roars while going out of a volcano that appears to actually be erupting.
I have heard The Beast's aggressive squeaks and roars and other noises as well as Banshee's rambles and pre recorded banshee scream, the lifts of Space Mountain, the noises caused by stopping and going again and again at the end of the tracks of Autopia and Tomorrowland Speedway, and more. I also know all too well the sounds of roller coasters launching through the power of linear induction motors, coaster cars coming to a stop through breaks, and blasters shooting targets in some dark rides. Something I should have stated before is that our imaginations dont just feed off of what we see. Thats reflected in a recent story chapter where Artist's Eye is boosted by using other senses besides sight including memories created from those senses. It isnt just what you see and hear that can help you write. It can also be what you smell, taste, touch, sense, feel cautious about, and so forth.
Friendships and romances irl are key to depicting such things much better in stories. The more real feelings, connections, and conversations you have with other people, the better you will end up writing dialogue and social situations. It quite literally is not rocket science at all. School and work can also help you write better and I dont just mean through writing exercises in the former. I mean, through interacting with others and doing things while at those places. That also means a lot of people have enough experience to write fictional school scenes rather well if their skills can depict it well enough. That being said, do not rely on things like talent. I despise that term. It often implies someone has always been good at doing something creative when that is never true for the vast majority of people who dare to create anything at all. It makes some people give up on ever getting good at it just because they never had the "talent" for it so they will "never be able to get good at it" which is total BS. The truth is: 8 years ago, I was horrible at drawing and writing. I wrote well enough for my coursework at school but still, it was crap compared to what I write nowadays or even compared to what I wrote in 2019. The vast majority of creatives arent automatically good at a creative skill. Only someone with a photographic memory like an actual photographic memory could ever start good at drawing art from the getgo. Cases like that are absurdly rare. I used to just draw stick figures because I didnt know how to draw bodies! Im trying to learn to draw bodies properly but its been hard because its a slow process and I havent drawn in 7 months. I havent had the motivation in full I need to draw. So I plan on eventually just drawing one full body drawing a day. Doing several in a day earlier this year was seriously draining. Never again, not anytime soon, vamos.
Oh and of course, work is a usually great insight into how much society makes work suck monkey butts. But sometimes, you may get to see when work is actually great. Just dont expect it to be through customer service jobs and such. Fulfilling basic needs very obviously allows you to know your characters have basic needs to and that they sometimes should be addressed and written about in your stories. Memories? Well, memories can do a whole lot for you in terms of helping you write. The unique experiences they let you hold onto can seriously affect your thinking process and the development of your story. Particularly your main characters. In essence, you need to put all you can into your stories in order to make them as real, good quality, and original as you can while being patient with yourself. The stories we create as human beings are reflections of who we are. Each character that we make up really does represent some major aspect of ourselves if not several. That is literally how things are. This concludes the part focusing on how your own experiences can help you write fiction stories. Emotions are also important for helping your fiction stories feel more real and fleshed out. You dont need to feel strongly emotional or anything to write good fiction but you need to have firsthand experienced strong emotions and have a solid understanding of them at the very least. This will really help you write your story significantly better. And naturally, watching things with intense emotions such as Sword Art Online, My Hero Academia, and KonoSuba can help you bettee understand strong emotions as well.
When it comes to feeling emotions while writing, you just gotta use them to fuel what youre creating. If you try to go against them to write something of a different emotion, I highly doubt that will end well. So if you want to be in the right mood for writing, make sure you know how you wanna feel. When you get to writing and feel something very different, you need to change your plans, go roll with that, or calm down and build up the mood from there. Thats what I suggest at least. Writing while completely calm has its perks as I have stated before. It is similar to feeling zen. If you have strong emotional control, you can shift the mood of you story well, especially while calm. You can also even learn to change back and forth and so on with ease. Getting in the right mood for writing isnt easy, you have to internalize the vibe. That being said, the right music can help with that(I recommend listening to instrumental music, songs with vocals are too distracting for me personally to listen to while writing). As for just jumping into writing, thats easier sometimes. Just start writing and insist on doing it if you want to write but also dont feel like it WITHOUT being hard on yourself.
We are nearing the end of the stuff Im writing based on the layout of the presentation I created this is based off of. So Id like to list out some things that have seriously inspired me as a writer. Here we go! I will be brief on the details that I put in about how at least some of the things inspired me. Kings Island's Halloween Haunt: inspired the format and detail added to my Minecraft theme park's haunted houses still standing in 2021, enabling new haunted houses to turn out amazing too at the same time. Space Mountain/Tomorrowland at Disney World and Disneyland: caused me to make my own Tomorrowland in my Minecraft theme park which later went for a 98% overhaul over several years(mostly in Dec 2023 and early August 2024-October 1st 2024) to become the mind blowing Sector Infinity area. It was the first themed area I created when it was my version of Tomorrowland. The long 45 minute coaster is inspired by Space Mountain. Dragon Ball: influenced some coaster elements and/or theming and storyline for a handful of coasters in my park. Ragnarok Origin: caused me to have my self insert OC become a knight, me to want to become a real modern knight is actual shining armor, the start of the shift towards a somewhat focus on knights in my stories, and influenced some of my theme park's later additions. I have also been influenced by Revenge Of The Mummy at Universal Orlando(made my own ancient pyramid coaster in my park due to it), Sword Art Online, Stampy's Lovely World, the Cube SMP Season 1, metal music, comedy anime, Magi Nation, Regular Show, and just about any other fictional media Ive consumed. The list of things Ive been inspired by is massive, truly enormous. The more fictional media you consume, the better you will get at writing stories and creative thinking in general. This world needs creative people to create.
Thats how it always will be unless humanity makes itself go extinct with all the BS going on and to come. I have a really long lists on the presentation this is based off of. So I really am not keen on repeating it all here. And it looks like we are pretty much at the end now. Thank goodness. It appears that all there is left is a bunch of miscellaneous things that havent been covered just yet. If I think of anything else to add, I will add it before publishing this thing. I hope you have stuck with me this entire time and hope you have been enjoying this and learning something from it.
Something I love to do is connect my stories to other things Ive made. Not only does it allow for more creative thinking but it gives me more stuff to work with. I highly recommend it. Essentially, I try to make everything canon. That even includes the hot swordsman character I created in Ni No Kuni Cross Worlds. They are a minor character in my stories and a counterpart to myself. A Swordsman Swiftdrawer residing in the world of Ni No Kuni. Theres also Rune Knight Swiftdrawer due to Ragnarok Origin and they have gone through several class upgrades throughout the course of the game. The rune knight is like a near perfect fusion of cool, powerful, might, kindness, and cute. There are other Swiftdrawers from other games that I created them in that have also made appearances in my stories. One of these days, Im going to write some sort of thing where its just all the Swiftdrawers against the forces of evil or something. Not as grand or out there as the Council Of Ricks from Rick and Morty but it will still be something else. I truly love canonizing things, I even worked into the plot of my stories the fact that in 2011, I participated in the now defunct Jedi Training Academy at Disney's Hollywood Studios into something more significant and mysterious like a forgotten portion of my self insert's past. I also recommend using weird things in your stories including randomly put together names like Barbona, Xeldelpel, and Dieo. Things are much more fun when you allow your stories to even just be a little bit weird. As someone who has read a lot of stories with straight romances, I have found stories with unstraight romances to be typically more enjoyable personally. Look! I just made up a term that might be a useful tool we'll all need later. But seriously, have weird characters and settings. Being "normal" is so dull and overrrated. Like come on, conformity in a story?!
Thats soooooo boooooorrrrriiiiinnnnnngggggggg! Have some imagination and sense of self instead of having a boring copy paste personality thing going on or whatever! The countless attempts to kill unique personalities in society read as if theyre trying to make people into flesh and blood robots who are all programmed the exact same way and worked to the extreme. As if they're actual machines whose only objective is to follow orders and nothing else, even at the detriment of the necessary maintenance and such required to keep them going. Which is again, total BS. Next up, make sure that you're writing for yourself. You have to have a balance between being selfish and selfless. Thats just how it works if you want to be a genuinely good person. You shouldnt be dogmatic, headstrong, or self centered as a "unholy trinity" but at the same time, you can't just focus on other people. To help others, you have to help yourself or get help to help you first. It takes a village to raise a child. All that good stuff. So if you also arent writing for yourself, you might as well be shooting your eye out or something. When writing for an audience, write for yourself at the same time. It is seriously important that you do this. Okay? I believe in you! You can write your own fictional story, I know you can! Its even possible for those physically and/or mentally disabled by Long Covid and other post-infection conditions that can fall under the CF/MEs condition to write. Is that how its spelled? I dont think so but Im close enough. But it is much harder for them to write so for anyone with severe Long Covid especially, if you are still writing, I am genuinely proud of you. You are pushing through your suffering to express your thoughts despite it being so damn difficult. It takes a lot of strength, patience, and resolve to do something like that. Also, if you are writing your own fictional story for the right reasons at all and by that, I mean anyone who is or will due to this writing, I am proud of you. I am so proud of you.
You are doing something most people would never have the guts to do outside of like as an assignment in elementary/middle school aka primary school. You are doing great so far even if you are struggling. Keep it up and never give up. Tell your self doubt and/or despair to put a sock in it. We dont have time for that BS anymore, not with whats coming in about 2 months as of when this writing was finished(Nov 18th, 2024). Deadman Wonderland's opening theme has never been so relevant in this century before this point. Overcoming self doubt and despair is actually not that easy. You have to have a mind that is doing okay and solid confidence and willpower to tell that stuff off. Despair can also be defeated with joy or expressing it through say, writing a fictional story. But Im no therapist or psychologist so I dont know the full details on beating that or beating self doubt. That being said, beating self doubt requires you to face it head on and do what gives you self doubt anyway. You must also question the world around you and do self reflection, asking yourself about yourself. If you need advice on overcoming that kind of stuff, you can ask me and I will try my best to inform you based on what I know.
But mental health professionals tend to know more than people like me do, please keep that in mind. The next misc thing is this: fanfiction can be a great way to start working your way to creating original fiction. An excellent author I know of, Flash Kitterson wrote fanfiction stories on Wattpad for quite a while before beginning to write the incredible Fated Series and publishing it independently. The first book Harmony came out in 2021 or so and since then, the quality of the storytelling and overall writing in the series has seriously improved. The next installment in the Fated Series is in the brainstorming stages. Theres already multiple titles in it. I highly recommend you check out the Fated Series. I myself wrote my own original story from 2019-2020 after having started to write fanfics as a hobby on April 18th, 2018. I even went back at the end of May 2022 to fix up my original story and reread it quite recently. And you know, writing a good fictional story really is hard. But it pays off in the end. Finishing a fictional story of your own creation can be one of the greatest feelings in the world especially if its a really long one. My longest story is over 420,000 words long(ha, 420). I have put my heart and soul into my stories. And I will keep writing them for as much of the rest of my life as I can. I have less confidence that I'll make it to my 80s than I used to but Im still going to try to grow old so I can be there when SCP-Negative 45's tyrannical entity dies at last. To be there in the ruins of the internet age society we live in, there to try to help rebuild what we're going to lose. But I have so much learning and struggling to do to have a chance to live long enough. We all do.
As someone whos white and grew up decently well off because of my parents, I still have things I need to unlearn. We all have to keep improving ourselves, creating things, and get ready to try to quite literally save the world. We need your voices to be unleashed, dear readers, more than ever. If you have any level of interest in at least trying out fiction writing, you should start today or when youre next free to do something fun. I doubt there is really much else I need to cover out there in terms of fiction writing. Stay safe, keep smiling, remove the Nazis from your lives, dont tolerate intolerance, resist the system, wear a mask when in public, grow your physical and mental strength, be kind, be vigilant, have love, stick with those you truly love and trust, and so on. You can find my stuff through my Linktree which is BlazeWarriorWolf. I want to thank you all once again for taking the time to read this and hope you managed to learn something new through this. This has been Swiftdrawer aka BlazeWarriorWolf and I wish you the best and hope that you manage to survive whats to come. Please, do not give into despair. We're not dead yet. That means we can still fight back against the encroaching evil that seeks to destroy everything without any regards to if its kind, economically viable, or anything like that. The cruelty is the point with them. Im most active on Bluesky so if you want to speak with me, thats the best place to go. See ya hopefully again some other time. Please be damn sure to fricking always follow your dreams!
